Study Group of EU Officials to China Pays a Visit to COFCC

On July 10th, the 35-member study group of EU officials to China paid a visit to the Center and had a seminar with COFCC in terms of certification management, overseas connection and international trade of organic foods. The study group of EU officials to China is a Sino-foreign cultural exchange program subsidized by Confucius Institute Headquarters (Hanban), organized by Mission of the People's Republic of China to the EU, and specifically undertaken by Department of Confucius Institute, Beijing Language and Culture University. Visitors are from 15 member states of the EU, who work for 13 departments and 6 subdivisions of European Commission, including 3 directors, 2 deputy directors, project and policy officials as well as expert advisors. Also present at the seminar were Deputy Director Liu Ping of China Green Food Development Center, Deputy Director Song Hua of COFCC, and Director Jiao Xiang of Overseas and Key Account Development Department.

The seminar suggested that as EU countries led organic undertakings worldwide and underwent continued growth of organic market demands, the EU had rich experience in agricultural development system, so it was expected to further improve international image and brand influence of green food and China Organic Food Certification Center (COFCC) through connection and exchange this time. In the seminar, Director Jiao Xiang detailed development status, certification flow and international cooperation with respect to China’s organic food; while the study group had an interaction with personnel in the Center in exchanges of relevant professional issues. This seminar deepens mutual understanding and trust and is of great important for closer exchange and cooperation with EU countries.
